Matilda

AI and data

Plain answers on how Matilda handles calls.

She is an AI

Matilda opens every call by saying she is the clinic’s AI assistant and that the call is recorded and transcribed. She can mishear, which is why each call produces a summary for a person to check.

What she collects

The caller’s name, phone number and what they say about why they’re calling. She does not ask for date of birth or Medicare numbers. If a caller volunteers health information, it is in the recording and transcript.

Where it goes

Calls are processed by providers in the United States, the EU (Brevo, for email) and Microsoft Azure (voice): Vapi (voice platform), Twilio (telephony), OpenAI (language model), Deepgram (speech-to-text), Microsoft Azure (voice), Netlify (hosting and call-summary processing) and Brevo (summary emails). We don’t claim the data stays in Australia, because it doesn’t.

Automated decisions

Matilda decides how to respond on the call and flags urgency in the summary, but she doesn’t make decisions that affect a person’s legal rights or access to care. A person at the clinic follows up every call.
